The Pomeroy

When Lady Gaga's personal chef and best friend of over 20 years opens a restaurant in Astoria, it attracts some attention. The Pomeroy's 50 seats have been filled since its fall 2015 opening (the artist was in attendance) and has stayed busy for Bo O'Connor's alluring comfort food. Frickles (fried pickles) with yogurt dip, honey-chipotle-glazed chicken wings and mini meatballs start things off right, along with some balanced cocktails. Fried chicken—half or whole—comes with bright dipping sauces of honey-carrot and jalapeño-herb. A burger and skirt steak are also on the menu, but O'Connor sees to it that there are several thoughtful, seasonal vegetarian options. The casual storefront has a lively bar scene, and being that no reservations are accepted, it's a fine place to hang.
