The Winslow

Description

The Winslow is part of the new wave of British gastropubs gaining momentum ever since the Spotted Pig took off in 2004. The winning formula: offer really good craft beer, stiff, well-made drinks and hearty, updated English fare in an inviting room. Then watch people come in droves. (The secret's out!) That blueprint is tweaked here for American tastes, such as in a burger that's almost impossible to get your mouth around, the thick patty a grind of chuck, short rib and flank steak, dressed up with cheddar, red chili aioli and caramelized onions. Those nostalgic for the UK will love the fish and fat chips, steak and kidney pie, Boddington's beer on tap and many a London Dry gin drink. The crowd is young and enthusiastic, East Villagers letting loose after work and in no mood to go home.
