Xin Fa Bakery

Description

In the heart of Brooklyn’s premier Chinatown, wildly popular Xin Fa Bakery sells all sorts of bubble teas and baked treats, though it’s best known for one in particular: Portuguese-style egg tarts. Baked fresh throughout the day, these tasty delicacies are cups of flaky pastry filled with thick, creamy custard with a blackened, caramelized top. Known as pastéis de nata in Lisbon, they became popular in the Portuguese colony of Macau before spreading to nearby Hong Kong. There’s limited seating, but you can easily eat one on the go.
