Zum Schneider

Out of Business

Description

Homesick Bavarian New Yorker Sylvester Schneider missed the beer gardens in his native country, and in 2000 decided to take matters into his own hands by creating this authentic German restaurant and bar in his new home, Alphabet City. Here, there are 12 German beers on tap, and the food menu includes such options as Wiener schnitzel, bratwurst and grüne krapferlsuppe (you might have to Google that last one). Most of the staff is fluent in German—and, yes, English, too.
