Maiyet

Out of Business

Description

It’s no secret that far too many clothing brands— even on the high end—are the result of sweatshop labor. The collective behind Maiyet decided to take the opposite route, relying on craftspeople from East Timor, Kenya and Mongolia, among other countries, to provide the silks, suedes and other raw goods for its designs. The idea is to profit share, with the company and its laborers both gaining from the high-end fashions the label produces, which sport elegant designs that present an aesthetic of understated luxury.
