The upcoming Broadway slate is all about dramatic plays. Harry Potter’s all-grown-up Daniel Radcliffe returns to the stage, along with other TV and film icons like Carrie Coon, John Lithgow and Ayo Edebiri. There are revivals of Death of a Salesman and Joe Turner's Come and Gone plus Dog Day Afternoon, based on the Academy Award–winning motion picture. In the musical category, there are at least three new shows opening plus a few revivals with internationally recognized titles.
Bug
Performances through February 22, 2026
Bug is a sexy psychological thriller about a lonely waitress and a mysterious drifter—previously adapted for the big screen in 2006. What begins as a simple connection between two broken people in a seedy Oklahoma motel room twists into something far more dangerous. The Broadway premiere at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre stars three-time Emmy Award nominee Carrie Coon and Namir Smallwood. The play is written by Coon’s husband, Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Tracy Letts (August: Osage County), and directed by David Cromer.

All Out: Comedy About Ambition

A sequel to last year’s runaway hit All In: Comedy About Love, All Out features some of New York City’s funniest talents at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre. Directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, the weekly rotating cast of four will read hilarious stories by Simon Rich. Celebrities include Ray Romano, Cecily Strong, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart, Heidi Gardner, Jim Gaffigan and Mike Birbiglia. The show’s original music is performed by the band Lawrence.

Every Brilliant Thing, which is known for tackling tough subject matters, has been performed across the globe in over 80 countries on stages of all sizes, and even for an HBO special starring co-creator Jonny Donahoe. Playing at the Hudson Theatre for a limited 13-week run, the show is written by Duncan Macmillan and directed by Jeremy Herrin.

Death of a Salesman

The tragic character Willy Loman returns to Broadway in the newest revival of Death of a Salesman. The Scott Rudin–produced show by the famed playwright Arthur Miller stars three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane (The Producers) in the lead role, alongside Laurie Metcalf (The Big Bang Theory) as Linda and Christopher Abbott (East of Eden) as Biff. Once called “one of the finest dramas in the whole range of the American theater” by New York Times critic Brooks Atkinson, the story takes place in 1940s Brooklyn where Willy, a traveling salesman, experiences a psychological breakdown that unfolds through hallucinations and flashbacks from his past. Joe Mantello directs the limited run at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Dog Day Afternoon

It’s the summer of 1972 in New York City when a Brooklyn bank heist goes wrong. Chaos ensues as the play follows the actions of a man on the emotional edge. The new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis is based on a true story that was also an Academy Award–winning film starring Al Pacino. Dog Day Afternoon, playing at the August Wilson Theatre, stars Emmy winners Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It’s directed by Rupert Goold.

Giant

The acclaimed John Lithgow reprises his role as the world’s famous children’s author Roald Dahl in a story that centers on the real-life scandals and antisemitism accusations Dahl faced. Mark Rosenblatt’s play originally premiered in London and received three prestigious Olivier Awards. The Broadway iteration, directed by Nicholas Hytner and also starring Aya Cash, is set for a 16-week run at the Music Box Theatre.

It’s a hilarious play about a blind date that spirals out of control written by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Gina Gionfriddo. With a mix of humor and intrigue, it will keep you on the edge of your seat as you follow the aftermath of the date gone wrong. The New York Times called it, “ferociously funny! A tangled tale of love, sex and ethics.” Trip Cullman directs Becky Shaw at the Hayes Theatre. Its full cast has not yet been announced.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball

Now and Forever! Cats celebrates its third life on Broadway with this reimagined version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical. Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the show still features the celebrated songs including “Memory,” “Rum Tug Tugger” and “Mr. Mistoffelees.” Playing at the Broadhurst Theatre, the revival is directed by Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, featuring choreography by Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons that takes its cues from ballroom culture.

The story follows a daughter of a renowned mathematics professor who is thrust into turmoil when a notebook containing a revelatory proof is discovered after his death. Thomas Kail (Hamilton) directs the limited 16-week engagement at the Booth Theatre.

Titanique

Never let go! Those famous words from Titanic are now hitting the Great White Way. Titanique, a musical comedy that was a huge hit Off-Broadway for a three-year run, is transferring to the St. James Theatre. Co-creator Marla Mindelle is set to reprise her iconic interpretation as Céline Dion with direction by Tye Blue. The show, choreographed by Ellenore Scott (Ragtime, Funny Girl!) fuses a kooky crazy reimagining of the 11-time Academy Award–winning film Titanic from the perspective of Céline Dion. Want to find out what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night? Just leave it to Céline to enchant the audience with her wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments and characters with her well-known song catalog.

The Rocky Horror Show

Let’s do the time warp again! The cult classic is back on stage at Roundabout Theatre Company’s Studio 54 with direction by Oh, Mary!’s Sam Pinkleton. Since its premiere in 1973, the show has been seen by over 40 million people in 15 languages. The rock-‘n’-roll musical tells the story of two college kids, Brad and his fiancée, Janet, on their way to visit their former college professor; by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a mansion. When they go inside, they’re met with a wild bunch of characters. Luke Evans makes his Broadway debut in the role of Frank-N-Furter.

Beaches, A New Musical

An adaptation of the New York Times bestseller, which became a blockbuster film starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey, is headed to Broadway at the Majestic Theatre. Written by Iris Rainer Dart, Beaches brings to the stage one of the most heralded friendships in popular culture with the famous Academy Award–winning song “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Jessica Vosk (Wicked, Hell’s Kitchen) will star alongside Kelli Barrett (Parade) with co-direction by Lonny Price (Merrily We Roll Along) and Matt Cowart (The Louder We Get) and choreography by Jennifer Rias. The new musical features a score by Grammy Award winner Mike Stoller, lyrics by Iris Rainer Dart, and a book by Iris Rainer Dart and Thom Thomas.

Broadway favorite Shoshana Bean (Hell’s Kitchen, Mr. Saturday Night) will star in The Lost Boys, A New Musical making its world premiere this spring at the Palace Theatre. The show, based on the 1987 movie of the same name, features direction by two-time Tony Award winner Michael Arden (Parade, Maybe Happy Ending) and a book by David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Chris Hoch (A Christmas Carol), with music and lyrics by The Rescues. The supernatural horror-comedy follows two teenage brothers who move with their divorced mother to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, only to discover that the town is a haven for vampires.

Joe Turner's Come and Gone

The legendary Debbie Allen directs the famed August Wilson play at the Barrymore Theatre. Its starry cast includes Taraji P. Henson (The Color Purple), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Castle) and comedian Cedric “The Entertainer.” Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, set in 1911 Pittsburgh, is the second installment in Wilson’s American Century Cycle, his groundbreaking 10-play series chronicling the African American experience in each decade of the 20th century. The story follows a boarding house that offers refuge to Black travelers navigating the upheaval of the Great Migration. Among them is Herald Loomis, a man on a quest to reunite with his lost wife—and to reclaim the self he was forced to abandon during seven years of forced labor under Joe Turner.

If you watched the two-season series on AppleTV+, then you know Schmigadoon! is the stage adaptation of the musical comedy.
