Whitehall Bar + Kitchen

Out of Business

Description

London-style, modern British cuisine elevates Whitehall from your average pub. Burgers are topped with an over-easy egg thanks to Australian-bred chef Chris Rendell, who has also cooked in London. The same owners are behind the Scottish-themed Highlands and Mary Queen of Scots, and all have strong cocktail programs. At the Highlands, it's more about scotch and beer, whereas at Whitehall the spotlight is on gin. The food is hearty but not heavy, from oysters with smoked bacon and Worcestershire dressing to a thick, pink, caramelized pork chop with hard cider sauce. The space is cool and industrial, with a bar up front and a more intimate dining room in back. The menu alters seasonally, but if you see crispy Brussels sprouts, get them—lots of mustard and mustard seed transforms them into a real treat.
