Black Odyssey

Stevie Walker-Webb, fresh off his Broadway directorial debut with Ain’t No Mo’, helms Marcus Gardley’s new take on Homer’s epic poem. This production centers on a contemporary soldier’s difficult journey after serving in Afghanistan, a struggle that includes trying to reconnect with family, a battle with supernatural beings and the realities of being a Black American soldier. Gardley, who has made a career of adapting classics, won a 2019 Obie Award for playwriting (The House That Will Not Stand).
