Description

Boro is Japanese for rags or tatters and are a style of hand-pieced patchwork textiles common in the 19th and early 20th centuries when the climate of Tohoku was not conducive to growing cotton.  This exhibit presents more than 50 archival pieces and new portraits together with designs by Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto that showcase how the technique is used in modern fashion.
