Brier Patch

Description

More than school 100 desks appear to sprout trees in Hugh Hayden’s exploration of the American education system. The dual nature of the briar patch, functioning as a safe place for some and a danger for others, is meant to point out the disparities present in the educational system. A series of public programs centered on storytelling, education and Black identity complements the exhibit.
