Cerámica de los Ancestros

Presented in partnership with the Smithsonian Latino Center, this major bilingual exhibition displays pieces from one of the world's largest and rarely seen collections of more than 10,000 ancient ceramic objects from the Americas. The selected items showcase Central America's first peoples and the societies they developed through seven regions (Ulúa River, Maya, Lempa River, Greater Nicoya, Central Caribbean, Greater Chiriquí and Greater Coclé) that today make up parts of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

The museum's annual Children's Festival (May 2–3, 2015) will also fall under the themes of this exhibit. Among the activities that weekend are print making, animal bingo and crafts.  For more information, visit nmai.si.edu.
