City/Game: Basketball in New York
This event has already occurred
Description
Though the sport was born in Massachusetts in 1891, basketball has some important roots on the streets of New York City. Its prominence in schoolyards and on street corners all the way up to professional courts reflects a significant part of our City’s history. This exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York traces basketball’s influence on NYC, and vice versa, through objects, memorabilia, photography, audio and video, emphasizing the long history of the sport as well as how much the game and the City have impacted one another.
