Description

Two-time Tony Award–winning composer Jeanine Tesori presents her new opera, Grounded, based on George Brant’s acclaimed play. The opera explores the ethical quandaries and psychological toll of 21st-century warfare and stars mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Jess, a drone pilot. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads the premiere of Tesori’s score. The cast includes tenor Ben Bliss as Jess’s husband. Michael Mayer’s staging uses LED screens to present various perspectives, including the drone’s view from above.
