Diwali on the Hudson

Description

Celebrate the Festival of Lights with the 10-year anniversary of the Desai Foundation's Diwali on the Hudson soiree. What started out as a small initiative to celebrate with the community and support the foundation's charitable work is now attended by locals and visitors from all walks of life. Join in for an evening of live music, DJs, a fashion show and of course, food.

The celebration of Diwali, meaning "row of lights" in Sanskrit, coincides with the New Moon when the sky is at its darkest point during the lunar month. Revelers light candles, lamps and fireworks to celebrate the victory of light over dark, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Charitable giving is a huge component of Diwali, and the Desai Foundation's Diwali and the Hudson directly supports the nonprofit's work providing health and wellness programs to women and children in India.
