With her roots in television, it’s no surprise that Tanya Saracho (who co-produces ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder) would offer a behind-the-TV-scenes drama in an Off-Broadway production. The comedy follows Lucia and Abel, who are both of Mexican descent and are navigating the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Lucia, a novelist who is hired to write for a TV detective series, struggles to find her way among a sea of white-male executives. She finds friendship with Abel, a janitor at the studio who regales her with his anecdotes, but soon they find themselves “in the center of their own not-quite-made-for-TV drama.”
