Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership and Van Alen Institute: Studio Cooke John: Point of Action

A set of upright metal frames linked by concentric circles on the ground gives pedestrians the chance to rethink what it is to see and be seen. Participants can step inside the frames, which have lights and rope curtains that add to the feeling of being on view. Point of Action aims to emphasize the interconnected nature of human society and the role of public spaces in creating healthy communities. The installation covers the north and south Flatiron public plazas, allowing for social distancing and plenty of angles through which to explore the project.
