Description

Part of SoHo Playhouse’s Fringe Encore Series, this work celebrates the life and impact of poet, musician and spoken-word artist Gil Scott-Heron—best known for hard-hitting pieces such as “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” His work presaged many elements of hip-hop, though he aligned himself more with the blues (hence the show's title). An array of artists will take part in reinterpreting his words, and his daughter Gia will relate her own memories.
