Global Citizen Festival

Description

Music festivals are fairly commonplace in the City, but few combine titanic star power with social change. Global Citizen Festival tackles that effort, bringing together some of music’s biggest stars to raise awareness around the fight against poverty, the pandemic and climate change throughout the world. This year’s show is a global affair, with same-day performances held in Accra, Ghana, and, of course, in New York City, where headliners include Metallica, the Jonas Brothers, Charlie Puth and Mariah Carey. The show will be livestreamed and also broadcast the following day on ABC. Tickets are free but getting them requires taking action, from signing a petition for food aid reform to emailing a panel of world leaders to ask them to prioritize waste management; once you’ve earned enough “points” for your efforts, you’ll be entered in a lottery for tickets. Check the website for details.
