Description
Before becoming one of Manhattan’s most expensive neighborhoods, the West Village spent decades as a thriving fount of culture and activism. Starting at the turn of the 20th century, the area began attracting outspoken advocates of political issues from peace activism to women’s rights, including the right to vote. Artifacts from that era, including posters, paintings, pamphlets, photos and more document the roots of the Village’s bohemian past.
