Zurbarán's Jacob and His Twelve Sons: Paintings from Auckland Castle
This event has already occurred
Description
Jacob and His Twelve Sons is a series of 13 life-size paintings of Old Testament figures on loan from Auckland Castle during the building's renovations. According to Genesis, Jacob called his 12 sons to his deathbed and bestowed a blessing that foretold their destinies and that of their tribes—the 12 tribes of Israel. These 17th-century Spanish paintings, which Francisco de Zurbarán painted between 1640 and 1644, have never before traveled outside of Europe
