This event has already occurred

Description

Kehinde Wiley’s 2005 painting Napoleon Leading the Army over the Alps is considered a modern masterpiece. The Brooklyn Museum, which holds this work in its collection, displays it alongside the piece that inspired it—Jacques-Louis David’s 1800 painting Bonaparte Crossing the Alps. Audiences can compare the two, taking into account the times in which the artists lived and their respective ages when completing their paintings.
