Jimmie Durham: At the Center of the World
This event has already occurred
Description
This retrospective of the work of artist and political activist Jimmie Durham, who was a key figure of the American Indian movement in the 1970s before taking up a nomadic life, brings together more than 200 works in a variety of media. Many of the pieces on display were created from natural materials such as bone, stone and wood: for example, a 1986 self-portrait was made of canvas, feathers, fur, metal, paint, shell, synthetic hair, thread and wood.
