Kerry James Marshall: Mastry
This event has already occurred
Description
Alabama-born painter Kerry James Marshall is celebrated in this exhibition, the largest retrospective of his work ever created. Marshall is known for his historical paintings that depict African-American lives in a style that combines European Renaissance with American cartooning. The Met Breuer will display more than 70 works from all stages in the artist’s 35-year career, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and video—plus a selection of objects chosen by Marshall from the Met’s own collection as part of a concurrent exhibition.
