Description
French military officer Marquis de Lafayette is famous for volunteering in the Continental Army led by General George Washington during the American Revolution. After a time back in France, he returned to the US in 1824—when the country was celebrating its 50th anniversary—as the last living general from the Revolutionary War, where he was welcomed with fanfare. To mark the 200th anniversary of that visit, Fraunces Tavern Museum and the American Friends of Lafayette have put an exhibition featuring objects that depict Lafayette’s wartime heroism and time in America.
