Description

Edouard Manet and Edgar Degas had a complicated relationship, similar in age, both leaders in the contemporary French painting of their time and, for a while, close friends (before becoming something akin to rivals)—Degas even painted Manet on a few occasions. This exhibit, which comprises more than 150 paintings and works and paper, presents their work side by side to bring into the focus the areas in which they overlapped and diverged.
