Description

This collection of hand-drawn and engraved maps from the 18th and 19th centuries showcase the geographic, political and economic changes before, during and immediately after the American Revolution. Among the items on display are original manuscript surveys by Robert Erskine, Geographer and Surveyor General of the Continental Army, and John Jay’s personal copy of John Mitchell’s Map of the British and French Dominions in North America (1755) whose boundaries were hand edited during the Treaty of Paris negotiations in 1782 -  1783.
