Description
In the culmination of its season, the New York Philharmonic presents this LGBTQ+ related program as part of their Music of Conscience series. The centerpiece of the night will be John Corigliano’s Symphony No. 1, which was inspired by loved ones lost to AIDS and others who were impacted by the epidemic. Panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will also be on display at David Geffen Hall. This symphony, first performed at Lincoln Center in 1992, will be conducted by Jaap van Zweden. The program also includes Brahms’s Tragic Overture and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, with David Fray as soloist.
