The Morgan Library & Museum celebrates the history of the Lenape who were native to Manhattan and other parts of the Northeast through this exhibition that delves into the life of Nora Thompson Dean, a Lenape elder who devoted her life to maintaining and sharing Lenape culture. The exhibition sheds a light on Dean’s life as a teacher and herbalist with letters, photographs and printed materials—and it’s complemented by a garden installation of culturally significant plants such as corn, squash and beans.
