Description
October in NYC is also known as Archtober—the City’s monthlong celebration of architecture and design. In honor of the event, NYCxDesign presents three experiential works around Manhattan that speak to themes of connection, sustainability and social justice, among many others. On display are Bamboo Cloud, a light-filled installation at Gansevoort Plaza in the Meatpacking District by IILab and L’Observatoire International; Public Display, an “urban oasis” also at Gansevoort Plaza by Michael Bennett of Studio Kër with programming by Form Us ith Love Studio; and I Was Here, an artwork projected onto One World Trade Center’s podium, conceptualized by Marjorie Guyon, with video and animation co-created by Marc Aptakin, Roy Husdell and Yoel Meneses of MadLabs, that evokes the United States’ history of enslavement.
