Description
Major elements of the country’s Revolutionary-era history took place at Fraunces Tavern in Lower Manhattan. It was a meeting spot for the Sons of Liberty, a site for trials that were part of a process that led to the emancipation of thousands of Black Loyalists and where George Washington bid farewell to his officers. The Fraunces Tavern Museum commemorates the 250th anniversary of such events with this display, which chronicles the period through artifacts, personal letters and works of art from the permanent collection.
