Rhythm & Power: Salsa in New York
This event has already occurred
Description
While salsa isn't uniquely New York, New York style salsa is distinct from that performed elsewhere. This exhibit, and the public programs that accompany it, explores how the city's Cuban and Puerto Rican communities nurtured salsa's growth from a local movement to a global phenomenon and social movement. The dance costumes and musical instruments on view come from legends including Eddie Torres, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz.
