Description

Featuring work by more than 60 black American artists from 1963 to 1983—two of the most tumultuous decades in African American history—this Brooklyn Museum group exhibition casts light on the unjust social conditions that have faced African Americans, along with their unrelenting spirit and grit that spawned the civil rights movement. On view are paintings, photography, prints, sculpture and performance, including works by such luminaries as Barkley Hendricks, Faith Ringgold and Jack Whitten.
