Street Smart: The Intersection of Art and Design in the City

The School of Visual Arts’ Chelsea Gallery presents the work of 19 SVA graduates whose site-specific and interactive installations all highlight urban life in the mediums of photography, painting, sculpture, illustration and design. The more than 50 works on display touch on politics and social issues, many of them NYC-themed. Included are a large-scale sculpture from Brian Douglas (whose street artist name is ELBOW-TOE), a mural by designer Timothy Goodman and two paintings from Luiz d’Orey that are made from construction signs that he cut and reassembled into works of art.
