As a national correspondent for The Atlantic, Coates deftly interweaves cultural criticism, storytelling, history and truth into lyrical prose that has made him one of the country’s most critically lauded writers. At this event, Coates discusses his new book, We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy, which examines Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and the legacy of racism that connects their presidencies.
