Description
A 2010 memoir by Edmund de Wall shined a light on the story of the Ephrussi family, something this exhibit amplifies by exploring the origins of the family’s collection and its loss to Nazi looting. Through a partnership with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the exhibit showcases the homes that the Ephrussi family lived in over generations. In addition to the Japanese netsuke, or miniature sculptures, which were returned to the family after being hidden by a maid, the show displays works by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Gustave Moreau and Auguste Renoir.
