The story of Steele MacKaye, a 19th-century author of more than 30 plays and a visionary inventor of nearly 100 theatrical innovations from folding chairs to acting school, has largely been lost to history. The Light Years takes an up-close look at this larger-than-life figure whose complexities and passions deserve dramatic interpretation. Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen of The Debate Society theater company co-penned this homage to MacKaye and his legacy.
