The Mile-Long Opera

Description

Over the course of five consecutive nights, a thousand singers from across New York City will gather on the High Line to perform the debut of The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o’clock, a sweeping choral work co-conceived by composer David Lang and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Poets Anne Carson and Claudia Rankine wrote the lyrics, which were inspired by real-life stories gathered from hundreds of New Yorkers who were asked what 7pm means to them. This unusual outdoor concert is free, but advance tickets are required via a website set up for this special event.
