Description
Japan’s most celebrated work of literature, The Tale of Genji, tells the story of the “Shining Prince” Genji and introduces the world to some of the most iconic female characters ever to appear in Japanese writings. The Met Fifth Avenue takes inspiration from the 11th-century tale for this exhibition, with more than 120 paintings, calligraphy, modern manga, prints, silk robes and other items that represent the themes present.
