Tiepolo in Milan: The Lost Frescoes of Palazzo Archinto
This event has already occurred
Description
This exhibit comprises a series of preparatory paintings, sketches and drawings connected with Giambattista Tiepolo’s first significant project outside of Venice, a series of frescoes commissioned by Count Carlo Archinto for the Palazzo Archinto in Milan. The palazzo was bombed and its interior was destroyed, leaving only some black-and-white photographs as a record of how the frescoes looked on the ceiling. The nearly 50 objects in the display include paintings and drawings that never have been seen together before.
