The Ways of Langston Hughes
This event has already occurred
Description
Langston Hughes had a longstanding friendship with photographer, filmmaker and foreign service officer Griffith J. Davis. This relationship, and Davis' documentation of Hughes' championship of Black artists across all genres, was first explored in Griff Davis-Langston Hughes, Letters, and Photographs, 1947–967: A Global Friendship at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA), from which this exhibition is adapted. Additions from the Schomburg’s collections include a watercolor by Joseph Barker of Langston Hughes' nearby home on East 127th Street, a letter from Hughes to Lorraine Hansberry and four LPs of poetry, including Hughes' collaborations with Harry Belafonte and Margaret Danner.
