Description

During the second wave of feminism in American history, black women had a distinctly different experience than that of white women. This exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum seeks to tell their story by examining black women’s political, social and cultural priorities through a variety of works from artists and activists who were present for the revolution. Mediums in the exhibition include painting, photography, sculpture, performance, film and video art from nearly 40 artists like Beverly Buchanan, Vivian E. Browne, Barbara McCullough, Ming Smith and Jeff Donaldson.
