Description

The West Indian American Day Carnival is an all-day party and parade that celebrates the culture of New York City’s Caribbean community. An estimated 1 million people watch the festivities as the parade, with its performers in elaborate costumes and floats, travels along Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway each year on Labor Day. Vendors along the route sell food, art and souvenirs from islands throughout the Caribbean while the sounds of reggaeton and calypso fill the air. For more, see our feature on the event.
