This exhibit comprises 90 pieces that pick up the thread of struggle and conflict present in much of Winslow Homer’s art, including his well-known work involving the Civil War and Reconstruction. At the center of the show is The Gulf Stream, a seascape that encapsulates the painter’s engagement with race, politics and the environment.
