World War I and the Visual Arts
This event has already occurred
Description
More than 100 years after the beginning of the First World War, this exhibition seeks to highlight the response of the artistic world to the “horrors of modern warfare.” The works on display represent a range of reactions—nationalistic pride, revulsion, gloom—from artists like Edward Steichen, Otto Dix and C. R. W. Nevinson. Prints, drawings, photographs, books and other documentary materials from The Met’s own collection will be on display, along with loans from other institutions.
