Henry Chalfant: Art vs. Transit, 1977–1988
This event has already occurred
Description
American photographer Henry Chalfant made a name for himself snapping pictures of graffiti art in NYC in the 1970s and ’80s. He’s known for his technique of capturing exposures in rapid succession on a 35mm camera while standing in different locations on the subway platform, allowing him to document the train, and thus the artwork, in multiple overlapping shots. Chalfant’s photography has forever memorialized works by street artists like Futura, Dondi, Lady Pink, Zephyr, T-Kid, DAZE, Crash and many more.
