John Singer Sargent’s Mrs. Carl Meyer and Her Children
This event has already occurred
Description
When John Singer Sargent’s iconic Mrs. Carl Meyer and Her Children (1896) debuted at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1897, it was met with praise and criticism. This portrait of Adele Meyer with her kids, Elsie Charlotte and Frank Cecil, depicts the world of privileged English Jews in the late 19th century as Carl Meyer worked for the Rothschild family prior to becoming deputy chair of South Africa's De Beers mining group.
